Lush to exit all Westfield Shopping Centres across Australia

Global cosmetics retailer Lush has announced plans to exit all Westfield shopping centres across Australia, with the British beauty brand set to leave its 10 locations within the network as existing leases expire.

Known for its handmade cosmetics, colourful bath bombs and commitment to cruelty-free products, Lush is shifting its Australian retail strategy to focus on locations that better align with its brand and local communities.

The retailer, which first entered Australia in 1997 with a store in Sydney’s Strand Arcade, has maintained a presence in major shopping centres for nearly three decades.

A Lush spokesperson said the company would look to grow its Australian footprint through stores that better reflect the needs and values of surrounding communities.

“We aim to grow our presence across the country by serving local communities in the right locations with the appropriate size and type of store,” the spokesperson said.

The decision follows a series of unconventional moves by the retailer, including temporarily closing its Australian stores, website and Sydney manufacturing facility in October 2025 in protest against humanitarian conditions in Gaza. In 2021, Lush also withdrew from major social media platforms over concerns about their impact on young people’s mental health.

While Lush is leaving the Westfield network, the company has indicated it intends to maintain and grow its presence in Australia, potentially through standalone stores and alternative retail locations.
