Rebel has expanded its Tasmanian footprint with the opening of its largest store in the state, a 3,000sqm flagship in Hobart’s CBD.
Spanning two floors, the new store at 85–89 Collins Street is Rebel’s third location in Tasmania, joining existing stores in Rosny Park and Launceston.
The flagship is the retailer’s second Rebel Customer Experience (rCX) format store in Tasmania and includes an interactive football experience zone where shoppers can handball and kick a football to test products before purchasing.
The store stocks sporting apparel and equipment across sports including AFL, cricket and basketball, as well as Tasmania Devils guernseys and teamwear ahead of the arrival of the state’s first AFL team. More than 40 full-time, part-time and casual jobs have also been created.
Rebel managing director Jenny Child said the new flagship reflected the retailer’s confidence in the Tasmanian market.
“We know how passionate Tasmanians are about sport and with the state’s first AFL team on the horizon, there’s never been a more exciting time to open a store of this scale in Hobart,” Child said.
The opening forms part of Rebel’s broader store expansion strategy, with the retailer planning to grow its regional Australian network from 39 to 70 stores by June 2031.
